    Ok, first off this isn't a moan, but are there any plans to upgrade the webmail we use. I have come across other webmail software in accounts I have had in the past and the webmail facility is much more easier to read, use and access.

    I think it would be of great benefit to most users to be able to access their webmail easily without having to remember a cryptic password. I know we have to bear in mind security issues etc, but maybe having an alternative option may help.

    Secondly, the web interface used, whilst doing the job of sending and receiving emails well, could do with a bit of a face lift. Adding other features such as address books etc would be nice to.

    Does anyone else have any thoughts on this

    The future of webmail is under discussion although no decisions have been made on where it will fit into the future Zen web services, so I am unable to advise you on this unfortunately. However, we are listening to suggestions and critiques of the current system and are aware of it's short-comings which we will be addressing.

    Don't kill off the webmail. It's a useful tool for when mail clients/servers are going doolaly.

    My own hampster server totally frags itself if any incorrectly formatted mails are sent to me and webmail is usefull for finding / killing the offending messages.

    I know in its current state its not really useable as a full time method of access but it is fine for problem solving.

    There are 3rd party webmail systems which can do this and do it better than our own, if it is removed then it is not likely to be a permanent change. Alternative webmail systems are being discussed at the moment although no decisions have been reached.

    Any further news on Zen webmail?

    I've read your post, but I do not want to use a third party system and I don't see why I should have to.

    I would like the ability to use my own choice of login and password, and some folders into which I can organise my mail. I would also like the option to use a spam filter. If BT can manage this, why can't Zen? It doesn't seem a lot to ask, and it's something I use a lot when I'm away from home. I'm surprised it isn't already in place.

    So...any good news for me?

    There are some major changes in the pipeline which will allow us to provide much improved webmail services however I can not give further information on this at this time.

    It's not something I can discuss but it is being worked on, I can't give timeframes but we aren't talking a zen garden style project time, much quicker than that!

    All that you should know is that the webmail problems will eventually be a thing of the past, I hope

    I am pleased to read this as I was rather shocked when I saw Zen's webmail plus the way we have to use a number to login. There isn't even a sent items box if you need to send a mail online. I thought I was missing out on a page or something but now I know it is very basic for others too.
     
    I like to check my mail on the server first thing everyday (in case there is any rubbish) Zen's seemed to be lacking in a lot of features my other ISP had + my other e-mail accounts I only use my Zen account for family and friends even though I am very careful with any mail.
     
    I didn't realise there was no spam filters or AV control as surely this would help the webmail abuse if Zen's servers were deluged with spam/virus e-mails.
    Thankfully I have my own levels of security which are very important.
     
    I sometimes even note a delay when my AV is checking Zen's servers for the tiny bit of mail I have up there. I would definitely welcome extra features and tools plus the ability to create our own e-amil addies without having to request a name which makes sense rather than the default number one
     
    I really do hope we will be able to enjoy a better mail service in the future with a few extra tools & folders at least

    We joined Zen in the Spring and enjoy not having all the frills and software that takes over your computer. Surely surfers should be responsible for their own security. We have not had even one spam email since joining but am perhaps tempting fate now.

    I agree it is up to the individual for security matters, in fact when I think about it my last ISP account was spam free until they introduced a Spam filter - I do not know what it did but it was only then I started to get spam. I have all security in place and updated plus take great care with any mail etc so this is not a priority for me (just a caution with webmail)
     
    I would however like to see a sent items folder in my webmail plus the ability to make a folder if I need to. I normally download everything but in the event I may need to send a mail online I do not have the option to keep a copy. If fancy things added unnecessary frills then I certainly would prefer not to have them (well apart for one or two folders )

    I use webmail all the time, in fact it was a major part of the reason I chose Zen - the service is a good one at a relatively high price - I am happy to pay it as long as I am getting the service I need
