What has happened to the Usage View API

Has there been any progress on this? Any sign of a beta?

Because of the inflexibility of the Zen admin systems I am having to write a program to monitor my customers' usage stats, and having to screenscrape on a changing page is a nightmare - as has been seen by others who have been trying to help on a flawed portal design!

Re: What has happened to the Usage View API

Its actually finished now, as is the sample application, although I don't think there is a MSI installer for it yet. I expect it will be released (in beta) when the developer who took over the project gets back from holiday (not sure if that is this week or next)

    Keep watching this space...

    Thanks, James.

When will the specs of the api/web service be released so we can start coding up our applications?

Re: What has happened to the Usage View API

Why was this inviation for Zen customers not posted on the Zen forum? Looks a bit odd that a Zen employee posts it on another site first... (Or am I missing something!)

What made you believe that Zen cared for its customers ;) ?

Re: What has happened to the Usage View API

What on earth caused you to post that? Unless you're going to quantify statements like that you shouldn't make them - consider this a warning (under the no-trolling rule in the forum T&Cs)

I would have thought that the fact we are developing these tools to make it easier for customers to check their usage was evidence in itself that we cared.

It was just an oversight that applications for beta testers were not invited from this forum also, nothing malicious.

    I agree.

I will look forward to the release of the Usage Viewer as it is bound to be better than having to keep going into the Portal or using a 3rd party bandwidth monitor which will probably show a different reading to Zen's!

The quickest way to find out your usage, if connecting from your Zen IP, seems to be to go to the extra allowance purchasing wizard and bail out after your usage is shown. No need to *** about with logins etc.

Re: What has happened to the Usage View API - BETA invite

Apologies to all users of this forum for not inviting people to take part in the BETA via this forum.  This was an oversight on my behalf as I must confess I spend a lot of time on the ADSL guide forum and have only recently begun to visit this forum as well.

As we work in a development team, the forums are not official support methods for our team within Zen and we visit when we have time to see if we can help customers out. Other teams may have different arrangements.

Regarding the BETA program, can those people that wish to participate send me an E-Mail stating:-

    • First name,
    • Surname,
    • Zen Contact ID (from the My Details page in the portal)
    • ADSL Username (Zen12345@Zen)
    • E-Mail address
    • Choice of client(s) (Windows Forms .NET 2.0, Perl, Firefox, Vista, Apple MAC)

The VISTA client is still not available yet due to other comittments however all the other clients are up and running and able to test now.

I will keep the registration process open for 1 week from today for people visiting this forum.

All  E-Mails to UsageCheckerFeedback@zen.co.uk with a TITLE of "ZF BETA Registration Request". This needs to be exact or I will not see the requests.

I'm already testing out the new Zen Usage Viewer as a BETA tester.

I would just like to say that it's excellent and very handy being able to see your usage at a glance.

I bet a few people will be only eager to use it when it is officially launched.

I should have made it clear that I'm a BETA tester in my original post Embarrassed
