    ADSL Usage

    Hi everyone

I'm thinking of opting for one of Zen's 8000 products.

To get an idea on my usage, I was wondering if anyone's come across any sort of ADSL usage meter for Tiger?

Thanks to anyone for any help.

    RE: ADSL Usage

Zen are going to add usage stats to the zen portal

So you will be able to get some idea of how much bandwidth you have used. There are widgets available but from what I can see they are pretty much isp specific.

    RE: ADSL Usage

The net meter in MenuMeters gives an indication of one computer's usage for as long as the interface is active.

This wasn't enough for me, as we run three or so Macs through my router, and two of them are laptops that go between work and home networks. So I found mrtg, which works with my Linksys router. It gives me pretty graphs of incoming traffic, and tells me that I'll be happy with the 8000 Active plan.

(however, as you'll soon learn, that requires you to be pretty happy with the Unix lurking in the bowels of Tiger in order to install it.)

    ADSL Usage

There's an excellent (free) utility that does this wonderfully called 'Surplusmeter'.

You can set your usage allowance and it will tell you what you've used/have left each month. It also archives previous months.

You can d/l it from versiontracker.com

    Re: ADSL Usage

I use "Surplus Meter". It tells me all I need to know about how much of my allowance I have used, how much I have left, how many days left in the month etc. It also has a neat feature to suspend monitoring when you're on a different network.
