Getting a PowerMac G5 and MacBookPro to share internet connection

Both machines have in-built airport extreme cards fitted. I can get the MBP to see the G5 network, network diagnostics sees:

    Airport: green
    AirPort settinsgs: Green
    Network settings: Green
    ISP: Failed
    Internet:Failed
    Server:Failed

Occasionally the ISP flickers green but i don't get connected to the net. However yesterday morning out of the blue the browser sprang into life and connected to the net. A quick check on the MBP Airport ip suggested 10.0.?.? can't remember, but it was an unual numbering scheme.

I use an intertex IX66 adsl modem with two ports, one feeds a pc the other my G5.

What ip or other settings do i need to set to get internet sharing? I am using DHCP, but have static IPs available.

Is the router not a wireless one? If not, then you can still share the connection wirelessly, but you will have to leave your PowerMac on 24/7. Of course, this isn't such an issue with OS X :)

If you go into the Sharing section of System Preferences, go to the Internet tab and you can then share the connection from the ethernet port on the PowerMac via the Aiport card.

Should then just be a matter of selecting the PowerMac from the Aiport dropdown.
