'article not on server' after 2 days of it being posted?

Why do the news groups keep 'breaking'? fix this, you are getting our money so you should be fixing this crap.

I use text Usenet more than anything on my connection, I have found the Zen Usenet service to be very reliable. If you have a problem like this I find it helps to give as much information as possible, ie, what software are you using, any error messages, times of day etc, without those it's guess work really.

Re: 'article not on server' after 2 days of it being posted?

On some groups articles are removed about 24 hours after being posted.  I've had Zen for seven months now and the first six months it was very good most of the time, but this last month it's been terrible.  I'm paying £35 quid a month and it's not worth it anymore.  If it doesn't improve soon, I'm jumping ship.

If you email into support and provide a list of the articles which are not available, the news team will be able to investigate, sometimes corruption will appear before a fault is reported by the automated systems.

Articles are not seen on Grabit as if they are not on the server, especially on groups with a large number of files of a large size (about 50mb). Is this a problem with grabit or a problem with Zen's newsgroup server? I have tried some other software but find them either very difiicult to configure or incredibly slow in loading headers.

    Hi,

Unfortunately it'd be difficult to determine the cause without more information. As Dave says - if your drop the details through to Support we should hopefully be able to look in to it in more detail.

    regards,
    Phil.

Re: 'article not on server' after 2 days of it being posted?

The issue is with grabit. Grabit is removing items before they are expired or claiming that the articles are not on the server when they are with newsbin. So problem solved: use newsbin and not grabit!

Please accept my apologies if any of my previous posts seemed somewhat angry at Zen's service.

Re: 'article not on server' after 2 days of it being posted?

I use Newsbin and across many groups for many posts the past weeks, newsbin keeps reporting 'article not on server', etc - this will seriously eat into the capped b/w as posts come down incomplete and in many cases you have to grab a 'complete' file from services such as EN. Zen keep saying nothing is wrong with the news service - really, tell that to those using it. This applies to posts that have been posted 1-2 days ago, not just the past hour - so it should not be a peering transit issue in terms of propogation time.
