    Re: The ULTIMATE SpeedTouch Tool!

The snr is still showing 11db at the moment as it was on 5.3. I will play with the DMT settings another day as I am now involved in getting multicast to work Confused
The thing had really got to me today so feel a lot better now.
I am not using wireless as I don't need it because the house is hard wired but you never know in the future.
I had a 510 for quite a few years and that gave no problems when upgrading which seems odd.
I have owned about seven routers now but this is the first to give upgrade trouble so I suppose that is progress. I have a old 500mh PC which could be handy for such upgrades with maybe one of my old copies of Windows 98 SE on it.
    Many thanks once again.

    Re: The ULTIMATE SpeedTouch Tool!

I have just found DMT tool.... What a great tool!

I live a long way from the exchange, and can only really get 1MB brad band, or on the new profiles, 1.25MB. For the last couple of months, I have been able to sync at a higher rate, for some reason, this, I notice was due to my SNR being around 11.5. Plus it resynced a few times after always at a higher speed.... and lower SNR

Last night, we had a lightening storm, which, as usual resynced my router, but at 1MB Sad with an SNR of 16! no matter how much I tried, I could not get this to resync higher...

Anyway, I downloaded DMT tool, and selected a lower SNR, now around 10-11, and I now have a sync rate of 2016, so, in 3 days, I should have a 1.75MB connection.. May not be stable, although it has stayed synced now for 7 hours, but at least it looks like this is the ideal tool for "long line customers"... and so far, I would recommend it!

I will be checking on a regular basis....

    Re: The ULTIMATE SpeedTouch Tool!

Unless I am mistaken, in the later versions of firmware for the ST585, ie V6.2.29.2, some of the CLI commands are locked out or not implemented.

So although DMT can display what's going on, it can't tweak the SNR etc.

    Does anyone know different?
