    FC6 1st impressions

Well tbh since I came up wit a few glitches but not unsurmoumtable over the weekend. did anyone else find them when they installed FC6

    1) It hung twice when installing when choosing the customise now option.

I got around this by just installing the basic and chose the update later option

When I installed FC6 and thought I could just use the add software option. However a process seemed to have already initiated so it was throwing me out of yum.

I looked in the system process's and stopped the Yum to eneable me to install the software I needed . However wondering why it was starting up I rebooted the machine and left it to run for a while say 20 30 mins then I realised it was looking for 280 updates from fedora as an icon in the tray sprung up saying so.

It would have been nice for new installs to tell the user that it will do this rather than thinking there was a problem with the install. A bit infuriating.

With that amount of updates some errors came up so I basically did the updates in chunks of 75 which went in fine. After all the updates had been processed and the system reboot. The Yum process appears to stop after a few mins so you can then install your required programs through the usual route. I may turn off auto updates or schedule them for a Sunday morning at 5am

All in all once I had the obligatory PPracer Motocross and and now TuxPucks and others for the kid (and me) I must say it's rather spangly. All I need is a bit of a pointer on installing Real Player and a decent dvd player as usual. As I have been unable to get my head around the different types of installs .bins .rpm etc

I turned on some of the display process's with the wobbly moves and the sliding like a cube between desktops.
