Is there anyone available to test the new web service client now?

This is the FINAL test. 

Please PM me now if so and I will email you the link to the package.

Need to be able to test and give me some initial comments back within the hour.

YES! I have an XP Pro box and am running Firefox the latest and most upto date version and also have Opera 9.2 latest version. I can could test the firefox plug-in if thats whats required.

Thanks for the reply however I should have mentioned that this is the Windows Forms client that needs testing. The Firefox client has not changed.

The public release is due very shortly now as the client is functionally complete. We are just ironing out minor last minute bugs.

Hi Carl,

Re: FireFox Plug-in. Any idea of a release date for this. I'm assuming its just a small-ish download & install?? How will this be made available, will Zen create a download link or download area/page?

All clients will be released at the same time. The .NET 2.0 client has been given a major overhaul with lots of new features which were requested by Beta testers. We thought it better to get these features in before a public release. Hence the request for additional testers. I confidentially expect to do a low key release via the forums this coming week.

The Firefox client has been available to the Beta testers for months now. It will come as an Add-On to Firefox and will sit in your task bar at the bottom.

I pleased to say that Carl has said I can also let people know about the Perl/command line/Linux version, which lives here: http://www.rachaelandtom.info/zenus.

This is only 'soft launch', but please try it out in advance of the full blown announcement if you can. This release will replace the zen-usage.pl script from http://www.rachaelandtom.info/zen-adsl-usage-monitor

Great, feel free to download it from the URL in my post, and let me know (email in the archive you download, message here or whatever) how it goes.

Bit of a hassle sorting out all the perl dependencies but fixed it eventually .....
# uname -a

This is perl, v5.8.4 built for sun4-solaris-64int
(with 28 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

I hope to maybe get it to use the standard Perl module install gubbins, which should take care of the dependant modules for you. Any specific problems that could do with documenting ?
 

Better exception handling is needed:
