    Automatix

Just installed Automatix into Ubuntu and it as solved many of my Linux problems.

Used it to upgrade to Thunderbird 2 from version 1.5 and installed loads of software.

I installed a utility that automatically mounts NTFS and FAT32 drives and now I can read and write to the second hard drive which I have never been able to do before.

There are versions for many Linux distro's.

It worked perfectly for me but a friend installed Automatix and could not boot up after so don't hold me reponsable.

Big Smile  With Automatix Ubuntu is now my OS of choice.

    Re: Automatix

Automatix doesn't do anything which you can't do perfectly well with the regular package management system, it just makes it a bit easier. And there are some criticisms of its possible effects on system stability. In the longer term it would be better to learn to do without it.

    Re: Automatix

Yes quite agree but as a newcomer to Linux it is making things much easier for me while I lean.

I did read some where yesterday that automatix could be integrated into a future Ubuntu distro.
