    Mac Mail 3.1 Leopard

    Hi

I have just bought a new laptop with Leopard installed and am in the process of migrating all my information from my old Macbook with Tiger installed.  What I can't seem to get right is my email account in Mail.  I am getting an error message for receiving mail although I can send without a problem (I know this because I have still got the old laptop set up to send and receive).  Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any help for setting up accounts with the new Mail 3.1 and it is quite different from the 2.1.2 version.

Can anybody help with this?  When I joined Zen I had to register an alias for the email address which was issued.  I believe this has changed now but I am wondering if this is where the problem lies.  Any help would be much appreciated.

AFAIR, your SMTP (mail sending) server is not password protected, which may explain why you can send OK. I therefore rather suspect that your problem lies with the mail username/password you've provided for your POP (mail receiving) server.

First of all, you ought to have received an email from Zen when you joined detailing the technical information necessary to set up an account. You should have printed off a hard copy and filed in a safe place for future reference. As a backup you should also have saved this. In this message, you would have received your connection username and connection password. If you know these, you should be able to set up your mail account.

For example, if your connection user name is zen123456@zen, your mail username is zen123456. The default mail password is the same as the connection password.

If you don't know this, then you'll have to contact Customer Support.
