As a new user to Zen ADSL, I am trying to understand why I have a lot of HEC and CRC errors on my line, or if the figures are in fact good and I just don't understand them. Is my downstream S/NR of 7.0db somewhat low and is there anything I can do abut it? I am, according to Kitz, just over 2km from my exchange. My IP profile from the BT tester is 6000. I am using ADSL nation faceplate and a self wired 20m run to an ADSL only socket with a Speedtouch 585v6 running sofware version 6.2.29.2.Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 7,136Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 187.67 / 715.60Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11.5 / 19.5Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 18.0 / 34.0SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 24.0 / 7.0Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ALCBLoss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 4 / 0Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0Loss of Link (Remote): 0Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 802 / 0FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 0CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 796HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 428

I switched to the Thomson TG585 v7 router and am a little curious about my line stats as well:
I seem to have an awful lot of FEC errors. What typically causes these? I ran the Shields Up test yesterday to verify the firewall was working, could this explain the number of FEC errors?
The router is connected directly to the BT master socket (using an ADSL Nation faceplate adaptor). I was hoping that doing so would give me slightly better line speed but I'm still getting the same sorts of speeds I was with my old netgear router running on a very long bit of extension cable.
