u r to pricey so am off to sky!:o)

£10 for unlimited downloads,speed 16Mb

i was paying £92 for Max for 8Mbit and am a single user aswell

my friend who lives down the road,showed me the speed he was getting with no probs

Heh, somehow I cant see a £10 service beating a £92 service, there will eventually come a time when normal cheap internet packages rival Zens service, but today is not it and Sky inet for £10 a month with unlimited downloads is gunna = you crying about leaving Zen in a couple months time due to Sky's tremendously *** service which I can testify to.

Anyway that being said, I do hope you get a decent service from sky and are happy with it.
 

me paying over £1000 a year is pretty stupid for a single user,i had problems with zen as well, witch took ages to find and convince Zen that i had.witch took numerous phone calls.

sky has  free phone calls for support as well, as free phone calls to uk land lines at no extra cost when u take there broadband 

i dont mind a few probs if i am only paying £10 a month

I have a friend in Birmingham (honest ;-))) ) on Sky and her service disappears, literally, quite often (no response) and it's generally quite slow.   However, she does not depend on it and can live with this level of service; I could not and it drives me to distraction trying to use her service.

One ginormous sigh of relief when I get back home to my Zen connection.

Most hackneyed sayings happen to be true: the one about getting what one pays for is undoubtedly numbered amongst the truisms.

Sky were a bit generous with their wireless routers (nice Netgear DG834 variants) when she signed up (2 years ago I think) and she actually got 3: they did not want the other 2 back (or were unable to cope with processing it, more likely) so I've got one and re-flashed it; very useful; as are the spare power supplies, filters and cables.

I made the mistake last year of being attracted to sky (on price) that exercise was one of the worst decisions in my life, they snatched the line early and then wouldnt connect. There "support" (sic) is so bad they need the free phone calls as it takes that long to connect.

Zen and BT responded very quickly to get my service restored and I think it was just a few days before my return to zen took place.

On a score of 1 to 10 for support,  Zen = 10  Sky = minus 10

**Its definitely my experience that with broadband you get what you pay for.

**Sky might look cheap on price & they may claim their service is unlimited. But my guess is that the cost might be low but you will probably find the technical support is rubbish. And that in reality its NOT really an unlimited service but I'm sure you will find that even sky operate a fair usage policy. It would be easy to find out a) check sky's T&C of service and b) just try downloading x6 DVD movies at 2 GB each one after another & see if Sky don't send you a curt email about your bandwidth usage?

Ty dropbear,anyway i have 8days in witch to cancel if i am not satisfied.

my friend is using sky.com,he has downloaded 127/gb in 2 weeks witch is a bit overboard i no but for £10 he has had no probs

now i think that all we r paying for with Zen is there tech support workers.

now for a single user i would be happy to pay Zen £55 ponds a month for 75gig download allowance as they r very reliable

virgin has a 75gig allowance on there 20Mb service,so why Zen r u so tight with your allowance,even when u do go over,the price of a gig is to pricey

The answer is NOT that Zen is mean or tight with its allowance. More that a company like Sky has an extremely large & deep pocket & so can offer a different kind of service. Usually these are bundled with TV, Phone as well as Web Access (so called triple play) and Sky makes its profit by have a bundled kind of service with a MUCH larger size user base. Sky has invested a very very large amount of money but has a very very large number of users which is why it can offer that type of service. Its different from Zen of course.

**You CANNOT make a fair comparison between Sky & Zen, why? because your just NOT comparing like with like. Its totally chalk & cheese IMO. 

**Zen is a smaller scale ISP, Zen's focus is more with business customers & its domestic products are aimed at specialist or hobbyist users who appreciate a high quality service.

**The ability to download VAST amounts of data off the internet is NOT the be all and end all IMO, even speed is NOT everything either. After all you might be downloading 100megs of utterly unwatchable garbage like big brother et al.

REMEMBER ALL THAT GLISTERS ISN'T GOLD (MIGHT BE JUST FOOLS GOLD)???

good on you mate and dont worry everyone is jelouse/hating if you go on the sky forums they will tell you some nasty stuff about Zen too and your right your payign way too much for broadband theres better broadbands that charge cheaper according to that broadband site O2 and many other broadbands are ac ctualy better then Zen...

 More likely some half-wit ;-))) has uploaded an flv with sync problems... having just downloaded 100meg of such an item I can testify that it's not good for the blood presure; especially because if this half-wit had bothered to read the comments prior to downloading he'd have known about it before wasting his time.

I agree that speed is not that important, around 2mbits is fine, really.

However, I could use any amount of bandwidth, given the chance (ie no charge).

Umm, why would we bother hating someone for leaving an ISP ?  as far as I and probably everyone else is concerned, it is none of our business what other people do and hating on someone because they change ISP's is just childish and immature.

The bottom line is, Sky cant compete with ZEN's truley unlimited service for the simple fact that Sky isnt truly unlimited, they say unlimited downloads ( but forget to tell you about the FUP ) but that will probably mean something like if you download more than say 75 gig a month continuously then you will either get a drastic cut in speeds at peak periods which they do or a lovely written email warning you to cut down on the downloads.

Their is no hating involved, well not from me there isnt, I truly hope the dude gets a good service as having to deal with customer support for any ISP is a nightmare.

As for better cheaper broadband services than Zen, I sincerely doubt, I have been with Zen for just a couple months on the unlimited package and I can testify to the fact that they rape 99% of ISP's out there as I have went through loads of different isps before coming to zen and every single one of them gave me problems after month 2 and that also goes for business broadband suppliers, so there is absolutely no hating involved, Zen although costly does rape sky, but you get what you pay for when it comes to internet in the UK, if I could get zens service but for £30 a month I would change isp in a heartbeat cuz I dont like having to pay the guts of £100 a month for internet, but its the best £100 I have ever spent. 

YEP! you get what you pay for when it comes to broadband for sure.

**I have no hate or argument with someone leaving Zen for another ISP after all its either money & either choice. I was only questioning the basis of that choice nothing more.

I don't think you would find that as simple as you may think.

Good luck and if it does not turn out to be what you need you know in a year or so time you can come back to Zen and monthly contracts.

I must admit if O2/BE unbundle my exchange I may move myself.  At the moment only TalkTalk have done it and no way I am going with them.

Just out of curiosity did you read my post? No one hates anyone for leaving. At the end of the day if you wish to leave then trying to make you stay is not going to make you happy and hating a customer for leaving is not going to make them stay.

 I Wished him well and I know all staff at Zen would say the same thing.
