    help with speedtouch 585v6 cli

    Hi Everyone:

    I have a speedtouch 585v8 and I use the CLI as I found the GUI to be honest rather limiting. But I cannot for the life of me work out how to specify an interface to be altered, none that worked at least, I used the command interface list and got a list of the interfaces which are all standard but despite having the list in front of me, I always get an error message so my question is this what interface do I enter when I configuring PPP using the ppp ifconfig intif = ? command as I want to change the authentication from auto to CHAP.

     Also does anybody know the command for the auto redial or keep alive function or to specify the number of redial attempts?

     Also is there a way to specify the SNR margin, as I cannot use the DMT tool with my current firmware version, as you might have guessed I suffer from a common problem of good uptime and then frequent disconnections.

    Thanks in advance/

    Re: help with speedtouch 585v6 cli

    Well if it helps here is a working PPP interface from my router: remember in the CLI the tab button is your friend!

    {admin}=>ppp iflist

    Internet: dest : atm_Internet [122:38:25]
    Retry : 10 mode = IP routing
    flags = echo magic accomp restart mru addr route savepwd chap
    dns metric = 10
    echotolerance = 5
    mru = 1500
    route : dst=0.0.0.0/0 - src=0.0.0.0/0 (metric 10)
    auth = auto
    user = zen00000@zen
    password = ********
    admin state = up oper state = up link state = connected
    LCP : state = opened retransm = 0 term. reason =
    IPCP: state = opened retransm = 10 term. reason =

    In this case the PPP interface is called "Internet" (note this IS case sensitive)

    Not sure about how to specify a target SNR margin or a maximum sync rate on this router via the CLI, although I'm guessing its possible if the DMT tool can do it

    Kindest regards,

    Re: help with speedtouch 585v6 cli

    Hi;

    I've tried the what was suggested and the TAB idea, did save alot of head scratching but when I tried the following command ppp ifconfig auth chap intf = Internet, I got the following error message or something like it, invalid interface specified even though, my connection information look exactly like the previous posters apart from obvious login details.

     Once again thank you.
