Continued newsgroup provision?

    Continued newsgroup provision?

Having read recently about major ISPs in the US stopping provision of swathes of the usenet hierarchy, I was wondering if this is a move that Zen will be considering?

    Thanks.

Anybody from Zen's staff care to comment on this?

Or indeed, anyone with UK experience of NGs being dropped...

As far as I know we have no plans to drop the service. I've checked with the sys admin and he's not aware of any plans either so rest easy!

Of course this is not to say this is guaranteed in the future although any changes will be communicated via the forums or by email to customers.

Its been 6 days for some servers for a while now, I trawled through the updates page when I was bored one day and I noticed that some binary sites had been cut from 7 to 6 days and that even 6 days wasnt guranteed :(

To paraphrase from George Orwell's 1984

'Comrades!' cried an eager youthful voice. 'Attention, comrades! We have glorious news for you. We have won the battle for production! Returns now completed of the output of all classes of consumption goods show that the standard of living has risen by no less than 20 per cent over the past year... The Ministry of Plenty has  increased the daily tobacco ration from 100 grammes to 80'

Likewise - although it's not my actual responsibility we have no wish to cease our news service.  Usenet I'm personally keen on (I'm a dinosaur) much better than forums with those awful emoticons :-)

    Regards
