    Protecting Directories

I need some help with perfecting directory protection.

I want to display a page of links to which free access is allowed but then protect the various directories where the target files are stored.  I want users to be able to enter the password to the protected directory once, regardless of which link they click on, thereby getting access to all pages in the protected directory.

Does this make sense and if so, Is this possible?

What is happening at the moment is that they have to enter the password each time they click on a different link to the protected directory.

    Re: Protecting Directories

You can do what you need via the .htaccess file, google htaccess directory protection or something similar and you will get loads of hits with directions on what you need to do.
