    IMAP supported?

Are there any plans to support IMAP in the near future does anyone know?

    RE: IMAP supported?

    Hi Clive,

There are no plans to support IMAP on our mail platform.

The mail service is provided as a transit point - not as a method of storage for e-mail.

    RE: IMAP supported?

Thanks Phil - I suspected as much. I use FastMail for my mail rather than Zen's servers because of this but one of my contacts uses Zenmail exclusively and IMAP would be useful to her. Never mind Smile

    RE: IMAP supported?

I use two e-mail progs TheBat and Mulberry and have a couple of Imap accounts on both. The great thing for me about Imap is being able to check mail on the server without having to d/load all the mail to my computer. I never store mail on the server i delete everything i don't want and d/load all the mail i do want. It would be great if i could add my Zen account as an Imap account Could you maybe Zen consider adding Imap in the future Phil

    RE: IMAP supported?

There is setting in Mulberry (preferences, ccounts, options) which enablesyou to leave mail on the server. (Outllok also has a similar facility, and I would suspect most other e mail clients do too)

IMAP is more appropriate to a corporate environment where mail can be stored centrally. For a ISP, the storage required would (I imagine!) be phenomenal!
The box said "needs Windows 2000 or better" so I installed Fedora Core 6

    Re: IMAP supported?

    Hi,

Does Phil's answer apply only to the "free" web space and e-mail via ADSL? I am thinking of hosting Bronze Linux Hosting via Zen. Will I have IMAP access to these mailboxes? The reason why I'm asking is because I find the use of IMAP far more convienient than POP3.

    Re: IMAP supported?

I believe IMAP is supported on cPanel accounts. I can double check on Monday.

I've searched high and low in my cPanel but can't find any reference to IMAP. Could you tell me where to find it? I have a colleague who is often on the road and wants to use a Blackberry phone to access (and reply to) emails and have that activity reflected in his regular email client back in the office when he returns. It seems that an IMAP account would allow this to happen.

    Re: IMAP supported?

IMAP support is enabled on cPanel but it's not supported, advertised or documented. If you wish to use it just set your server type to IMAP using the same cPanel mail login details as for POP3.
