• Re: DECT phone issue with 21CN

No, it wasn't caused by wireless interference, I got a sparky friend to have a look before I took it back. It was the power supplies. If you put your hand around the DC power cable, the SNR went up 2db, take your hand away and it went down again. I tried fiddling for hours, putting tin foil around the cables, moving their positions etc. He said it ...

I took it back to Argos and got a refund. I had to go through the bin to get all the packaging back and spent an hour working out how it all fitted into the little box lol. Luckily, I kept the receipt. Lesson learnt!

  • DECT phone issue with 21CN

I thought I would treat myself to a new home telephone and bought an iDECT C5i twin set. I know I live at the end of a very long phone line and my line is very sensitive, but the phone knocks my SNR right down and made it very unstable. I've been playing with it (repositioning it) all evening and finally given up. After 6-7 reconnections, ...

  • Re: BT 21CN and BRAS

It is crawling at a snails pace again this afternoon. Syncing at 2504 but lucky if I'm getting half a meg at times. It seems like one hell of a contention ratio. The previous Zen 8000 Pro never altered. Felt I was the only one using it. This thing is up and down like a yoyo.

Well, I had an email to say that my upgrade order to Zen Pro was fulfilled last night. Download speed is a steady 2mb this morning and my upload speed which was 380 has moved up to 510kbps. I will be happy if it remains the same throughout the day. Yesterday's performance on Zen 8000 Pro over the new 21CN was abysmal.

cyteck: **Don't be at all surprised if on your new ADSL2+ line just get the same speeds as before or even worse speeds.... Regards Ivan Oh hell, you are right. Got home from work today to find it giving 600kbps at best. It has creaped up to 1.1mb. The 2mb I was used to seems a long way off. I went to the customer portal and ...

  • BT 21CN and BRAS

Yay, got connected to BT's 21CN last night. Router readings are looking good for my long line. I have 1 question though, My default SNR is showing 9.8 to 9.9. I had a problem a few years ago where a noisy power block (the type you plug into a 13amp socket) for a scanner was knocking my router broadband connection out and I was re-profiled. Before ...

  • Re: 21CN back in October - am I now on "up to 20Mb"? no visible change in sync speed.

cyteck: G992.5 YES! your router will work with ADSL2+ but what you actually get in terms of real or actual download upload performance is entirely another matter. **I'm on 21CN and my connections performance is 100% no different from ADSL1 but lets hope you have more luck than me? Regards Ivan Thanks for the quick response. I'm at ...

Hello Cyteck Can I check with you... cyteck: will also need to check your router or modem can function at ADSL2+ i.e. is ADSL2+ ready or compatible. Your router/modem will need to be able to run G999.5 modulation (ADSL1 upto 8megs uses G.DMT). Ivan Did you make a typo with G999.5 modulation or is there a typo in my routers ...

  • Re: ADSL2+ total let down !!

Now that is worrying. I just got the letter informing me. I'm on the outer reaches of getting broadband. For many years people round here couldn't get it. Now, with a lot of tweaking and hard work, I can achieve up to 2mb with the wind in the right direction. Most folk are on .5 or 1mb round here. If BT's 21CN makes a good 'close to the exchange' ...
