  • Parked domains

Can anyone offer me some advice regarding a 3rd party parked domain. I have a Zen registered and hosted domain eg 'mydomain.com'  which has 'public_html/mydomain' as its site root. I also have a 3rd party parked domain called eg 'mydomain.co.uk' which points at the correct IP address. The problem is that the parked domain finds the default ...

  • Very disappointing support

I have been a Zen ISP customer for over 2 years and apart from a slow line have been pretty satisfied. I needed a new domain and a site to be administered in the UK so I ordered the domain registration and a hosting package through Zen. It was an EU domain and took over two days to register which seems long but the time taken is not my beef.. I ...

  • Recent restrictions on IMAP mail connections - anyone else suffering ?

Appears that around mid-September restrictions have been put in place preventing more than 4 concurrent IMAP mail connections from a single IP address. Since most IMAP mail clients are multithreaded this effectively allows for one mail client per IP address. Even if your mail client allows the number of connection to be limited, at most you can ...

  • AddType in .htaccess

Hello,I am trying to force apache to parse files with a .xml extension as php script (I am generating xml files dynamically). While developing the website on my own machine I simply edited httpd.conf and added: AddType application/x-httpd-php .xml This worked perfectly fine, but when it came to uploading the website to the hosting server I ...

  • Bronze - 3 MySQL databases, 1 Spare - two Joomla sites?

The least painful way to migrate from Joomla 1.0.x to 1.5 is to setup a totally new website and just copy and paste content. (okay, I admit, I don't have much content on the site I admin so this will be relatively easy.)  But, my question is. We have a Bronze account, and there is one spare MySQL database. Does this mean that in Fantastico I ...

  • Re: ftp access

Hi TonyI wouldn't use any browser for my FTP, personally. Try Filezilla - it's free and good. David

  • Re: Joomla Permissions

Have you any problems with uploading templates or extensions? I get an error on my Joomla 1.5 Fantastico install when I try to do so: JFolder::create: Path not in open_basedir paths. I am endeavouring to resolve this with Support (by email).   David Ryedale

  • Re: C-Panel Shared Hosting problems

Hi Phil  The problem with RSS is that you get all feeds. There is no way of disaggregating the content to make it specific to the end user's individual server, as far as I can see.  Could you please review matters and come up with a more targeted solution that your customers want, rather than what you want to deliver? Have you surveyed ...

  • C-Panel Shared Hosting problems

Dear Zen  As a long admirer and user of Zen's services I think it time you reviewed your service alerts process. The problems of last weekend were anticipated and it would be much better if we could put a message on our websites to alert our users or email our sites' members in anticipation of a major outage. That would mean that you send ...

  • Re: Hosting FTP files in public_ftp

For reference: It looks as though one is stuck with having the files in the public_html folder. I sorted the access thing by using the 'Directory Protection' feature in the 'Site Management' menu to restrict the permissions on the folder to just the appropriate user. Pat
