    Draytek 2800G

    Hi,

Has anyone tried successfully to upgrade to the 8000 Active service using a Draytek 2800G router. Zen sales have suggested to me that this is not a safe option. Draytek suggest it should work although line synch issues (whatever they are) could cause a problem - or no increase in speed - (theoretically I should be able to get 4Mb). However, I'm not so bothered about speed, the 8000 Active service is substantially cheaper, extra speed would be a bonus.

    Thank you for email.

The main issue with few ADSL MAX lines is ADSL synch. connections.
This issue is reported with few line conditions only, where a different
modem code can be helpful which would negotiate with the line conditions
    in a different way.

Vigor2800G would work with ADSL MAX lines, but the actual speed performance would
    depend on the line conditions.

    Kind regards,"

I don't really understand the different modem code bit - what is it, and does anyone know what code will work?
    TIA

    Re: Draytek 2800G

From seeing other users comments on other forums, I'm under the impression that this router doesn't work well on long lines as it keeps dropping the connection causing the target noise margin to be raised thus reducing the line speed.

However, as you say your not bothered about speed then it shouldn't affect you much.

Just out of curiosity, what are your line stats?

     CurlyWhirly,

    Thanks for your reply

The test i ran the other day gave -  1881 kilo bits per second (Kbps)

I'm thinking this is pretty good.
