Frequent Timeout on Mac, PC able to browse fine

    Hi,

I'm currently experiencing a strange problem on my home network. I am experiencing frequent timeouts when browsing the web from my macbook (running tiger), sites like google, gmail, hotmail, google maps all timeout before being able to load. Initially, I contact Zen support who were able to rule out any problems on my phone line and, to date, have not been able to narrow the cause down any further.

However, I have been able to browse to all the above websites fine using my partner's laptop running Windows XP Pro.

Whilst I'm quite experienced with PCs, I'm a relative newcomer to Macs and am not sure how to progress this issue.

Thanks in advance for any of suggestions that you may have.

    Cheers, matt

Are you using an ADSL Router, and, if so, are you using Ethernet or WiFi to connect ?

Yes, I'm using a Belkin (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=252506) ADSL router. The Windows laptop uses a Belkin PCMCIA wireless adaptor and the Mac uses the built-in airport wireless card.

Both the Mac & the Windows laptop have a WPA encrypted wifi connection between the laptop and the router.

     Thanks, Matt

Matt is there any chance you can try using another web browser on the Mac?

For example Firefox or Opera are good choices, this should help to see if it's safari. Another option could be to try the beta of the new Safari 3, from here.
