    Hosting FTP files in public_ftp

    Hello,

I have a Bronze Linux hosting package.

I want to set up a folder of files that selected folk can log into and fetch, but the great unwashed cannot.

Using cPanel, I can creat a new FTP account (penguinfiles, say) and it creates a corresponding subfolder in public_html with all the login and password protection. BUT I find it can also be accessed by anyone with a browser who points to (eg) http://mysite.myzen.co.uk/penguinfiles.

I see that in the root folder there is a public_ftp folder. Is there a way of making the FTP access look in here, and not in  public_html? It is possible that I created this folder myself sometime when trying to solve this months ago, getting a bid middled in my muddle-age. Has anyone else got it?

Or is there something I can do with setting permissions?

    Thanks,

    Pat

    For reference:

It looks as though one is stuck with having the files in the public_html folder.

I sorted the access thing by using the 'Directory Protection' feature in the 'Site Management' menu to restrict the permissions on the folder to just the appropriate user.
