    Website Down

    Our website has been down now for over 13hrs. Surely Zen have has someone covering hosting problems during holidays??

    Yes, there are staff on call to cover server problems etc. Sorry to hear of your site issues.

    I spoke to them just now to ask them to check your problem in case there is an issue that was not picked up by the automatic monitoring.
    The error indicates a problem with the connection to the SQL server. If its a general problem then I'm sure they will get it sorted soon.

    The on-call hosting team have checked this out, and told me that there doesn't appear to be a general problem with SQL connections between the shared hosting server your site is on and the provided SQL server.

    Is your SQL database hosted externally? (in which case you should check that server)

    If hosted on an SQL database provided by Zen and the problem persists then you'll need to speak to support about it in the morning. It may be worth placing a holding page (which doesnt require an SQL connection) up in the mean time.

    Our website (www.exchangebond.com aka MACKLIJ.shared.hosting.zen.co.uk) is also down with a similar database connection problem:

     Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'

    [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (PreLoginHandshake()).]General network error. Check your network documentation.

    When I read this earlier I hoped all was going to be resolved! I'm dissapointed that the problem doesn't seem to have been researched more thoroughly.

    This is not the first time that our website has gone down over a weekend or holiday with no one to contact in Zen support.

    My website is my livelihood and I can't afford to have the site disappear for two days while Zen support are off enjoying themselves. I will certainly be looking for a new host as a matter of priority.
