I posted new messages in uk.legal and uk.politics.misc about an hour ago, yet the messages are still not appearing. I've checked my outbox in FreeAgent and they definitely got sent.

You're not alone. My news client isn't downloading any headers or bodies from the Zen server.

 I called tech support, and their response was 'You're connected, everything is OK from our PoV, you must have a problem.

I unsubscribed from a couple of NGs then resubscribed and tried down loading a nominal 100 headers in each group. I got a very patchy response with most messages posted since about 08.00 today not being available on server. Seems like it's a Zen problem after all with non-propagation of messages.

 
 

It was/is patently Zen's problem. Maybe they've fixed it in the meantime, as I have gone back to using news.motzarella.org. But when I noticed the problem, the Zen newsserver had been working fine. I posted some messages, hit download, no new messages. Strange, I thought. So I waited a few minutes (normally any new messages appear right away). Still nothing. I waited another hour. Zilch.

Then I created this new topic.

Yup, at least I managed to get them log it as a fault, but it was a bit of an uphill struggle.

Seems to be back to normal now (10:55 am, Saturday).

Hmm, I don't think so, just had four messages in one NG show up as no body on server, and messages are still extremely slow to propagate, yesterday's posts are coming in dribs and drabs.

Wouldn't it be nice to think that Zen Support were monitoring these forums..... 

 

I was finding that the same read messages keep being represented as unread.  Just checked and it looks as though it is working again.

 Working after a fashion.  First download got many new messages in a number of groups but many repeat, already read, messages in one group.  Next download produced the odd new message but the previous problem group now showed ten new messages that disappeared as soon as one went to that group
 

Sunday a.m. and downloads for posts/headers are still exceedingly patchy. Some groups will d/l OK, other busy groups - uk.d-i-y, uk.silversurfers for instance - showing no new messages overnight.

Zen, you *have* got a problem with your news server, when are you going to do something about it. 

Sunday 17.00ish. Downloaded some headers and articles, no problems. Then tried another d/l got loads of 'article not on server' messages.

Looking at one or two other threads, it's patently obvious that something has been going wrong with the news server for a few days now. It's also fairly clear from the responses others have had and my own experience of getting a fault logged that Zen are playing ostriches, burying their heads in the sand and making out nothing's wrong their end.

Perhaps it's time to take it to the wider community, let people know Zen and its support ain't all it's cracked up to be! 

 

Late last evening it seemed to be OK, just did a quick download though.  1700 ish tonight (Monday) there are still obvious problems.   Initially got a few new posts, although nothing timed after the early hours.  A few minutes ago gat over 100 new posts on one group and nothing anywhere else.  Some of my groups are usually very busy.
