    Over *three* days!

It's been over three days since Zen's NNTP server started failing, and yet we don't even have any real acknowledgement from Zen that there's a problem (which there definitely is!) let alone a timescale for when it'll be fixed.

Sorry, but I expected more from Zen :-(

It seemed to be ok yesterday evening but this morning loads and loads of "sorry, this message is no longer available" across all my subscribed text groups.

There is currently a service alert about this issue here:

Thanks Phil but I did contact Support immediately after posting here. One or two posts about the situation on the zen support newsgroup claimed they had difficulty over the weekend in getting Zen to acknowledge there was a problem. Not sure if this was accurate or not but I must admit I find it a bit confusing when the service page flags usenet as Up, in green, but clicking on it then shows service problems.

Yep, something is broken again with the news service. It was onyl about a week ago that they finally seemed to have fixed the x264 posts not being on Zen but fine everywhere else. Still, hopefully they will fix this problem as it's affecting the whole service.

Strange that server monitoring never seems to reflect something is broken - I would have thought that disc or network issues should be automatically flagged?

Really - hardly anything is working for me - I' keep having to disable bodies from Zen as virtually everything is 'article not on server' - I try re-enabling it evry now and then and get the red error in newsbin all the time. It seems it's been almost completely broke for days - strangely during the time support are on leave for several days.

    Re: Over *three* days!

Still working here, but I will admit every now and then I will have to load the nzb files all over again and retry the download due to it failing and giving me reds when i first load up a nzb, I wait a minute or so, load the same nzb file and it will start to download ok and complete no problem.

On sunday when I posted, I was in the middle of about 3 or 4 x264 transfers and it seemed to be working ok, but its working here which is the main thing but with the odd snag which I only noticed this morning, no doubt their is a problem of some sort, but to be honest, it does'nt seem to be affecting me much at the moment.

I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but am up on the far north east of Scotland, so I dont know if being up north and out in the sticks if that has anything to do with me still being able to get connected to and being able to use zens news server with little to no problems ?

I hope you guys get back up and running soon.

    Re: Over *three* days!

Great, now most of my NZB files wont download properly or even download at all now, this only started today, although I was having slight problems yesterday, I would say that 95% + of nzb files are coming out either corrupted due to parts missing or they just wont download at all due to "failed to retrieve article from server"  and post retrieval error 430, no such article.

It even says in the status report "article completion is much improved",  what, its much worse now than it was yesterday, so how can it be much improved ? I only hope that it gets fixed soon. I am new to zen and I am not sure how good the stability of zens news servers are, so I don't know if this is a common problem here or not ? I would hope that it isn't, but I have seen a fair amount of complaints about the news service since reading these forums and,  I am now beginning to suspect that their is a deep seated problem somewhere along the line regarding the news service.

As a regular light user, I find it has the odd hiccup but nothing I would describe as a deep seated problem

Of course I guess that could change in the future given the shear volume of data involved

    Re: Over *three* days!

Easynews is fine too - it's a Zen news issue or something else at Zen, and it's been faulty in one way or another for ages now.

Anyone else of the opinion Zen are not too bothered about their news service these days?
