    Vista Service Pack 1

I installed Vista SP1 the other day from Windows update onto my Acer 5220 Notebook. Although it took all of 50 minutes and two reboots all went well.

I have read lots of reports about SP1 causing problems during or after install so as anyone had such a problem or is it mainly the the usual press scaremongering that seems the norm these days.

Even with all the bad press that Vista as had I quite like it (Vista Home Basic).

    The notebook spec is

    1.7Ghz Celeron

2Gb of DDR2 memory (updated from 1Gb which did not work at all well)

    80Gb hard drive

    Hi Ken

I used Vista from the beta and RC days, I now use Vista64 premium and like you, installed SP1 a couple of weeks ago, And I still do not have any problems whatsoever with Vista.

I think alot of what we hear has to do with what has happened in the past with previous operating systems, But there will of course be the unlucky people that do have problems with it.

Of the people I know that use it, None of them have any problems at all.

Using Sp1 here and have had no problems with it, it has made file transfers between drives and deleting files faster than what it was before, apart from that I cant see any other changes, but it works and thats the main thing.

    Re: Vista Service Pack 1

    Hi,

I read a recent posting on Yahoo Answers from a guy who installed Vista SP1 he said the SP actually removed something like 14GB of wasted disk space previously taken up by other windows undates? But No! install or post service pack installation problems at all.

**I have tried Vista but hated it (from direct experience not from reading about it in the press or else where) its NOT for me, its got way way to much eye candy & numerous good XP features have either been removed, renamed or placed 3 or 4 menu layers down so you have to dig deep for them. This is in my mind just typical Microsoft re-arranging the deck chairs as usual. I wouldn't call windows Vista exactly intuitive to nagivate around. I'm NOT going to upgrade from a formula 1 XP pro machine to a Ford Ka with a sun roof.

**I have a very good friend who is a senior systems administrator for Trinity Mirror and he's running Windows Vista 64bit on 64bit hardware and loves it to bits. Oh! well horse for courses I guess.

I have two other machines running XP Pro and swop from one to the other without noticing really. Also have a PC running  Susie  10.3.

I have to admit to liking the Vista eye candy though Wink
