Hi folks - would appreciate some help...
As usual, I did an MS Update yesterday - amongst which were recent updates for MS Outlook.
Since then, I can't send or receive from/to any of my e-mail accounts.
e.g. Error message:
" Task 'Henry - Receiving' reported error (0x80040900) : 'The server name you entered can not be found on the network (it might be down temporarily). Please verify that you are online and that the server name is correct.' "
I have tried all the usual things...
- My DSL and LAN connections are all working fine - internet access fine, newsgroup receiving fine.
- I've tested the e-mail account settings from Control Panel -> Mail -> E-mail Accounts -> View or change existing e-mail accounts -> Change -> Test Account Settings. The tests come back fine with no errors.
- When I try the same thing from within Outlook - Tools -> E-mail Accounts -> View or change existing e-mail accounts -> Change -> Test Account Settings - the tests always fail !
- I've tried creating a new profile, and adding the new e-mail accounts, but the same thing happens again !
- I've pinged the 'Incoming mail server (POP3)', and the 'Outgoing mail server (SMTP)', again no probs.
- I've rolled the system back to the restore point before the last MS Update - same probs !
P.S: It's not my Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 either - I've disabled it completely, and the same problems remain :-(
The MS Update appears to have screwed Outlook somehow. Anyone come accross this sort of problem, or have any ideas?
All constructive suggestions gratefully received...!
Richard
