Connecting 585 v7 to Airport Express

I have just changed my wireless router to a Thomson 585 v7. I have 2 Airport Expresses that I would now like to add as clients. Neither seem to be picked up via WDS and neither is seen by the Airport Utility. I have tried to do a factory reset on one of them but the correct signal of 4 green flashes does not appear - just flashing amber for 20secs and then nothing. One of my Airport Express models is a 'g', the other is an 'n'. One thought is whether the issue is caused by using WPA for security on my wireless network. Would I have more luck by going back to a WEP key? Any help on all this greatly appreciated!

Re: Connecting 585 v7 to Airport Express

Solved! Connecting my AAE units via Ethernet enabled me to see them through the Airport utility and configure them for wireless operation. Strangely, the new Express 'n' model does not respond in the normal way when undertaking a factory reset (flashing GREEN light) I think this may be a firmware issue so I have updated this. The whole problem of restting the latest Airport model is covered in Apple's Discussion group and doubtless inhibits connection as a client device. Hope this will assist others who experience the same issues. I now have a 'g' Express in my lounge and a 'n' Express in my kitchen. All are feeding back to the 585 and co-existing with a DECT phone setup which is the other issue that some users feel causes problems for some.

Did you get the 585 v7 as a new unit, or did you upgrade the firmware from v6?

I have a 585v6 but can't see anywhere on the Thomson web site to download v7 firmware.

It was a new unit from Zen in the updated casework. No experience of Speedtouch before this as I had only used Draytec and Netgear. Sorry not to be able to help more.

    Thanks.

I also checked by e-mail with Thomson. They told me that the v7 only comes with their new hardware unit, and there is no firmware upgrade from v6.
