550 error "Unable to verify sender"

    Hi,

I've recently switched hosting company and today for the first time have had trouble sending out an email via the Zen smtp server. I'm sending emails from my own domain, which is hosted by a third party. The DNS records look to be in order but I get the following error (only when I send to one particular address - so far) - I've *ed out the actual addresses, my domain is the *****.co.uk one...

"A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

      ***@********.org.uk
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<****@*****.co.uk> SIZE=3339:
    host easymx2.easily.co.uk [212.53.64.68]:
        550-Verification failed for <****@*****.co.uk>
550-No such user at this domain
    550 Unable to verify sender
    "

I know that the user exists because I use it for all my email and it sends and receives without problem for other recipients. I'm trying to work out if there's something with the way my hosting company deal with email addresses that could be causing this error or if there's a setting I'm missing in my mail client (Thunderbird).

    Can anyone offer any suggestions?

    Many thanks.

Re: 550 error "Unable to verify sender"

    Hi meesteryan,

That error message is due to a syntax error in the actual email address itself, meaning it could have been written with a tiny mistake. (note: email address's must be extremely precise to the very dot or dash) OR the actual email address IS actually wrong or has been changed?

**The recipients address could have been corrupted in transit?

**This is NOT an email client or program error in my view.

**This could be due to the remote mail server at the recipients end of the network & how it handles incoming mail.

**I dont think its a zen related problem either.

Re: 550 error "Unable to verify sender"

Thanks for the reply Ivan. I know that the addresses used were correct because I use them all the time and haven't had this problem before.

I suspect that like you say that it's perhaps to do with how the easily.co.uk server handles incoming mail or how my new hosting company has the email address set up - or a combination of the two.

Either way, probably not a Zen issue.

    Cheers,

    Iain
