I've recently aquired a Speedtouch ST780 to try in place of a Netgear router. The Netgear used to synch at a range of speeds though an average would be in the 2000 to 3500kbps. The Speedtouch connects at 3072kbps every time. Is this normal for a Speedtouch? I'm not complaining as this would be an acceptable speed for my line! I would have expected the speed to vary really but no matter when I connect it always the same 3072kbps. Early days, but it does seem very stable at that. Never disconnects - unlike the Netgear.

I'm one of the lucky ones who always connects at 8128kbps

However, I had a Netgear DG834PN and it would disconnect on an irregular basis (a reboot would always reconnect at 8128kbps, but it was a pain).
I decided to try a Thomson Speedtouch as they were recommended by Zen, and I got a second hand 780WL from fleaBay.  I don't think that it has ever disconnected nor needed rebooting since the day I plugged it in (and connected at 8128kbps ).

So yes, based on this limited experience, I think they are more stable.
